Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa

Review of our stay at this beautiful, family-friendly hotel

By Mary Campbell October 11, 2017

While planning our family vacation to Carlsbad for my son’s 8th birthday to visit Legoland, I knew we’d want to stay somewhere near the park to avoid the dreaded long morning drive with overly excited kids (yes, we’ve made that mistake before). Searching hotel after hotel, there are some very strict “must-haves” when we stay somewhere with children, and then I stumbled upon the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa, and I knew we would have the perfect place to stay! The Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa is located conveniently next door to Legoland California (also home to Sea Life Aquarium), and just minutes from downtown shops, food and beaches! They even have their own private hotel entrance to Legoland that is only used by their hotel guests. 20/Twenty Restaurant inside the hotel, rated in the Top 10 Restaurants in Carlsbad by TripAdvisor, had an ocean view and relaxing atmosphere for us to enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning (and the kids loved their pancakes and hot chocolates every day too!).

When we arrived, the staff knew just where a family like ours would want our room, right near the pool, but also close to our car and the lobby/restaurant. The room had an ocean view as the hotel is situated up on a hill overlooking the town of Carlsbad as well. The room was beautiful and very spacious for a family of four. We had complimentary in-room coffee, water and wifi. The bathroom was huge and had plenty of hooks for us to hang our swim suits (I think they knew we’d frequent the pool!). It was gorgeous to have a view of the sunset every night as we got ready for bed, making for relaxing evenings.

The pool at the Sheraton was one of the best features and always at the top of my “must-have” list when searching for a hotel. Not only was it a large and beautiful pool, but it had a game area as well for us to enjoy. The pool had many areas varying in depth, to accommodate the little beginning swimmers to the cannon-balling, deep-end, experienced pool kids. Drinks and food could be ordered to the pool area for convenience. The game area featured a pool table, foosball, pingpong, blong ball, Jenga and more! My husband enjoyed teaching my eight year old how to play the game of pool during our stay (now guess who wants a pool table for Christmas!).

We had a fabulous stay at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. This would be a great location for anyone wanting to visit Carlsbad and especially Legoland visitors!
