Out’n’About Treesort, Cave Junction Oregon

The Next Level of B&B's

By Mary Campbell March 27, 2018

Dirty feet, messy hair and bright smiles… these are a few of the treehouse rules, and my boys were more than happy to follow them. Swinging off the balcony on a rope swing, sliding down the pole from the top of a treehouse, flying high on the Tarzan swing, and zipping out of trees and across the meadow, and then spending the night in our own treehouse 30 feet off the ground. Out ’n’ About Treehouse Treesort has really taken the bed and breakfast idea to the next level, quite literally! Getting out into nature and letting my boys explore in this youthful and imaginative place made this a magical, memorable and relaxing vacation for the whole family.

The Swiss Family would have been impressed with the abundance of treehouses, filled with creativity, from the Treeloon and the Cavaltree to the Magistree and the Pleasantree, each with their own unique design. Our family adventured up three staircases and two suspension bridges to reach our Pleasantree, which also included a full bath and shower (for those of you who prefer glamping). In true treehouse fashion, we used a pulley system with a net to hoist our luggage up, which both boys enjoyed the challenge of who could pull their bag up the quickest.

Breakfast was freshly cooked, and the coffee was hot each morning as we came down from our treehouse. We got to enjoy meeting other guests as we all shared a meal together. The staff was very accommodating for my food allergy needs. For lunch and dinner, they provided a central cooking area and fridge to cook our own food, or the town of Cave Junction was just a short 15-minute drive with a handful of tasty restaurants.

Adventure was waiting around every corner of the Treesort, with activities that kept my boys playing all day long with the other kids staying at the resort. The zipline course made me branch out and face my fear of heights, but it brought magical memories with my boys, watching them fly across the cables with bravery. We started out low and slow, but worked our way up to 75 feet up in the trees and hitting speeds up to 45 miles per hour! After the zip line tour, we were feeling confident and took on the Tarzan Swing, a 50ft. pendulum swing that sent me on the ride of my life (and my 5-year-old chose to do it TWICE).

Evenings were spent gathered around the campfire, cooking dinner on the community BBQ and roasting marshmallows with the kids, bringing the community of “Tree Musketeers” together. On our final night, the kids were running around playing hide and seek and my 5-year-old walked by the campfire and sighed to himself, “this is the best vacation ever…” Which warmed my heart and made it worth every second.

This bucket-list bed and breakfast in the trees usually books up months in advance, so start your planning early! All treehouses are booked over the phone so that they can offer the best customer service and personal touch (I was very impressed by all of the staff, they were kind and helpful, always going above and beyond). Be sure to give them a call and take a look at their website where you can tour each tree house, browse all the activities and discover your future Tree-cation!
