Celebrating Valentine's Day with a Mommy and Daughter Tea Party

By Amy Rose Stoner, MacKid Lodi Publisher February 9, 2023

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and our family has been busy choosing out the perfect Valentine's Day cards and treats to share with friends at school. There is an over abundance of heart shaped EVERYTHING at the stores. I feel like I see more sweet treats and candies this time of year than I do during Halloween. But what I really enjoy about this holiday is that it's a time to be extra sweet and thoughtful whether it be with creative gifts, boxes of chocolates, stuffed animals etc. But for this mama, I am always looking for ways to cut down on buying so many of those things. Instead, I try to figure out special activities/outings or experiences to do with my kids.  As I was thinking of what to do for my daughter, I knew I wanted it to be something we could enjoy and experience together. So that's when I thought, we need to have a tea party.

I called and made reservations at The Hidden Tea Room on a Friday afternoon and lucky for us, we had the place pretty much all to ourselves! We were both so excited that we sat down right away and took a look at the menu and we placed our order. I went with the Queens Tea Tower which included two warm tea scones with house made sweet butter, lemon curd and jam, quiche, tea sandwiches, and assorted desserts. My daughter chose the Teddy Bear Tea which is a smaller portion of what came in mine. It was the perfect amount for her!

She felt so fancy being able to pour her peppermint tea from her very own teapot and adding the sugar cubes to her tea cup. I was surprised at how full we were after enjoying the bite size treats. Maybe it's because we were drinking so much tea.

After enjoying fun conversation and pouring the last bit of tea we had left in our teapots, we had to take a peak into their little gift shop. Of course there was an amazing selection of vintage tea cups and teapots, packaged loose leaf tea,  local handmade jewelry and gifts and so much more. I mean, you really can't beat a place where you can eat, drink and shop! It was truly the perfect (early) Valentines day gift for her (and for me too).
